Getting a card, Renewing materials, Placing Holds, etc.

 

Who can get a card?

       -The library will serve all residents of the community and the public library system area. Service will not be denied or abridges because of religious, racial, social, economic, or political status; or because of mental, emotional, or physical condition; age; or sexual orientation.

The use of the library may be denied for due cause. Such cause may be failure to return library materials or to pay penalties, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, or any other illegal, disruptive, or objectionable conduct on library premises.

 

How to get a library card?

-Identifications is required; driver’s license or student ID is preferred however; any other official ID or recent non-personal piece of mail may be acceptable. Children 5 years or older are eligible for a card. Applicants under 16 years of age must have a parent or guardian give their consent on the application form before a new card can be issued. Materials cannot be checked our until a library card is issued.

What are the borrowing limits?

1.  2 weeks for books

2.  Generally, reference books do not circulate. Upon request, some reference materials may be checked out overnight, this is at the Library Director’s discretion

3.  Interlibrary loans are due the date indicated by the lending library, generally 2 weeks and may not be renewed unless otherwise indicated.

4.  Books may be renewed once if there is not a waiting list for the title, otherwise the book must go back on the shelf for 24 hours.

5.  Current issues of periodicals do not circulate.

6.  Non-current periodicals may be checked out for one week and may not be renewed. Periodicals are kept for check out for up to one year.

7.  2 weeks for audiobooks.

8.  3 business days for DVD’S. NONRENEWABLE AND CANNOT BE RESERVED!

How to place a hold?

-      Reserves may be placed by patrons either in person or over the phone. Patrons will be notified by telephone when the materials are available. There is no charge to the patron for placing a reserve.

Renewing your borrowed items?

-       Books may be renewed once if there is not a waiting list for the title, otherwise the book must go back on the shelf for 24 hours. MOVIES WILL NOT BE RENEWED!

How are library fines assessed?

-       There will be a fine applied to all overdue materials. The books and audio books will have a fine of 5 cents per day, following a 3 day grace period. All DVDs will have a fine of $1.00 per day and there will be NO grace period.
